April 23, 1965 - August 25, 2015
SCOTT, William H. “Wmie” – 50, of Cape May passed away suddenly at home on August 25, 2015. Wmie graduated from Villanova University and received his Master’s Degree in Business Finance from the University of Rochester. He was a gemologist and in 1993 he founded, the now well-known business, Artisans Alcove with locations in Cape May and Ocean City. Wmie was an expert in his field and worked very hard in making his businesses successful. A testament to his work ethic and business sense, Wmie founded Scott Skateboard at the age of 10. He was a former “Steger Boy” and sold the Philadelphia Daily News on the beaches of Cape May. One of his busiest days on the beach was when Elvis died. He covered the beaches with his brothers shouting “the King is dead.” He swept at Frank’s Arcade for $1 per sweeping session, earning $2 per day which was enough to keep him in pinball funds for the entire day. He was a former member of the Cape May Rotary Club and spear-headed the Rotary Clock Project; the clock now stands as a main attraction in the center of the Washington Street Mall in Cape May. Wmie enjoyed music and was an avid follower of the Grateful Dead. Above all things, Wmie enjoyed every moment with his three children and actively participating in whatever they were doing. He is predeceased by his mother, Barbara. Wmie is dearly missed by his family which includes his three children, Carissa, William and Paxton Scott; the mother of his children, Diane; his father, Ronald Scott; brothers, Chris and Alex Scott. Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday (Sept. 2nd) from 10:30am – 12noon in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May with his memorial service beginning at 12noon. Interment is private and at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to: Love of Linda Cancer Fund, PO Box 1053, Wildwood, NJ 08260. - Although this website offers many options to send flowers, please observe the request of the family to make a contribution to the above named charity in Wmie's memory.
