Peggy Doyle Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

DOYLE, MARGARET L. (Peggy) – 80, of Cape May passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2017. A proud direct descendant of noted American artist, Charles Willson Peale, Peggy was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas and Catharine (nee Peale) Doyle. She was a summer resident of Cape May and has been a permanent resident here since 1989. Peggy graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur High School, Philadelphia, PA (Rittenhouse Square) and later earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Drexel University. Peggy enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in education, first as a teacher at the Wood School, Langhorne, PA and ending her career as Principal of Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Mt. Airy, PA. Peggy had a zest for life and took interest in many things: travelling, cooking, volunteer work, photography, theatre, family get-togethers, and nature. She was a member of the Nature Center of Cape May, the National Audubon Society and the Nature Conservancy, and always took an overall interest in her community. Above all things, she enjoyed and was committed to her family, graciously taking excellent care of her brother Paul Doyle for nearly 22 years until his passing in 2010. Peggy is dearly missed by her loving family which includes her two brothers, Thomas (and Linda) Doyle and Augustine (and Kathryn) Doyle; her sister, Adele (and George) Carpenter; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. There will be a viewing on Friday (Feb. 3rd) from 10:30am until 11:30am in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May with Mass of Christian Burial to follow and begin at 12 noon in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington St., Cape May. Interment will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery. Lower Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to: Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, Alumnae Class of 54 in Memory of Margaret L.
