Marlene Ann Filippini
September 13, 1935 - February 5, 2015
As submitted by Marlene's Family: Mom was born in Kirkwood, then resided in Camden, Williamstown, Michigan and then back home to New Jersey. She became a Mom at 17 years of age and during the course of her marriage had 7 children and she was always a wonderful Mom and Grandmom (18 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren). Did you know she went to high school with Michael Landon (Little Joe on Bonanza). Although my parents had tough times she could make a banquet out of a can of peas, my mom made me my favorite many times, creamed peas on buttered toast. She always made sure our holidays were special even with a simple chocolate heart sitting beside our dinner plate. Everything came from her heart to us and our children, I mean was she ever without a McDonald's happy meal toy, what a simple joy. Mom and Fame enjoyed baking together, she was a good baker. She had a green thumb, she could take a leaf cutting and it would grow into a lush plant, she really enjoyed gardening. Mom took pride in her gardens, they were beautiful. She was beautiful, she was a model as a young woman. I can remember looking up at my Mom as a little girl and feeling proud because she was so pretty. She worked in the school in Title One and an aid in 5th grade at Sharp School. Christine said, now I have an angel on my shoulder, "My Mom". She always said to us "Angels on your shoulders". We all of course learned how to swim with her, or else! Beccy remembers Grandmom having fun with us out in the lake saying "bumpity bumpity" as she bounced up and down with a child in her arms. She is a beloved Grandmom and Greatgrandmom. Shara enjoyed the tea parties on our deck and fun at the campground. And lets not forget "Christmas in July. "Katy said a good memory she has with Mom is of Wildwood on the beach and also watching Mom trying to fight the guy who snatched her purse, he had no clue who he was up against! My Mom is my hero because she gave me life and love, without her I would not have my beautiful children and grandchildren, she is our root. Mom is also my hero as I remember her always coming to my rescue, driving 20 miles to my house to catch a mouse...LOL!!!! Mom you are greatly missed, we all love you very much and you will be in our hearts always .143,we all do.
