93 Precious Years of Touching Lives Margaret “Mom-Mom” B. Dellas (nee Bailey), 93, of Cape May passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Margie was born on August 13, 1922, in Maurice River Township, New Jersey. She was predeceased by her parents Bertha (nee Palmer) and George Bailey and raised by “Grandmom” and “Grandpop” Wagner in Leesburg, New Jersey. She moved to Cape May in 1946 and lived with the Mohler family while working as a waitress at their restaurant in town where she met the love of her life, Norman E. Dellas, Sr., while serving him hot tea! Three months later, on January 29, 1947, they married and remained inseparable for 59 beautiful years. Norman passed away on February 22, 2006. She is survived by her loving family which includes her three children Norman E. Dellas, Jr., Elizabeth Anne Dellas, and Kim Marie Dellas; grandsons, Norman E. Dellas III and Jonathan P. Dellas; and great-grandson Norman E. Dellas IV. Margie and her husband were involved with Little League -- helping the youth of Cape May for more than 50 years. As president of Cape May Little League, Margie organized bus trips to Atlantic City and sent out donation letters religiously to raise money for support of the children Norman, Sr. and she loved so much. 1976 was an especially joyful year when Margie’s Girls Softball Team (sponsored by Dellas Agency) won the State Championship. Margie was the Insurance Broker and Real Estate Broker/Salesperson for Dellas Real Estate and Insurance Agency along with her husband, Norman, Sr., who also was an insurance agent and real estate broker of record. When Norman, Sr. passed away, their daughter was honored to become Broker/Owner and to continue to operate the Dellas Agency with her mom, Margie. Margie renovated and reopened the “Dellas 5 & 10” featuring “Margie D’s Soda Fountain” in 2007, and is run by the Dellas Family. Margie loved doing the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle and completed it every week! She also loved trips to the Atlantic City casinos, playing “the slots”. There will be a viewing on Thursday from 6pm - 8pm in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May. There will be an additional viewing on Friday in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington St., Cape May from 12:30pm – 2:15pm with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 2:30pm. Interment will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery, Lower Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be made payable to: “The City of Cape May Dellas Field Restoration”, The City of Cape May, 643 Washington Street, Cape May, New Jersey 08204. - Although this website offers many options to send flowers, PLEASE observe the request of the family to make a memorial contribution instead to the above named fund.
