WRIGHT, Inell Doris - at 10:50am in the morning on Thursday, July 2, 2015, Inell passed away peacefully at the Transitional Life Care Center in Cape May Court House, NJ after battling dementia for many years. She was 88 years old. Inell Doris Wright was born on April 25, 1927 in Lexington, SC to Edward Wright and Victoria Wright (Brown). She was one of seven children. Inell was forced to leave school after 11th grade when her family moved from South Carolina to the beach resort town of Cape May, NJ. Inell worked for the U.S Navy/US Coast Guard Base in Cape May for over 20 years after being hired by Cecil Bryan, Sr. She then left the Coast Guard Base in 1982 to go work for Claridge Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City where she worked until she retired in 1995 to take care of her ill mother. She finished her work career by volunteering at the local Cape May Food Bank where she stayed until 2011. Inell was also an avid bowler, which she did for over 25 years along with her beloved cousin, Cora Molson (Knight). They bowled in Wildwood for the Shultz family and Vance’s Bar. She and Cora won countless trophies throughout their careers and traveled to Las Vegas, among other places in the United States. She was forced to quit bowling when she began having knee problems. She also enjoyed the game of BINGO very much and loved playing it with her mother and other friends and family. Although she was never able to have kids of her own, she received a gift from God in the form of her beloved nephew, Roy S. Wright, Jr. whom she adopted in 1974 at age 43, after his mother passed away. She, along with her mother, Victoria Wright, did a wonderful job of raising this young boy up to become a son that any mother would be proud to call their own. She leaves him behind to continue living his life the way that she raised him: keep God first and all other things will fall into place. The love of Inell’s life was her lifelong partner, Abe Drinks, whom she was involved with since the mid 1960’s. They were best friends and both made sacrifices to support each other during their relationship. They both loved Jesus very much and were both involved in choirs for many years. They spent countless hours traveling the country at various gospel and church functions. They lived together in Egg Harbor City, NJ until she moved back to Cape May to care for her ailing mother until her death in 1998. Her personality and genuine love for her fellow man made her friends to hundreds, if not thousands of people during her time here on earth. Inell was predeceased in death by her parents and her brothers, Willis Wright, Lester Wright, Dewey Wright and John Quincy Wright. She is survived by her older sister, Vernell E. Cook (Seattle, WA), her baby sister, Mary-Ruth Wright (Cape May, NJ), her son Roy Wright and his wife Bianca, her granddaughters, Kaiya and Ariel, her unborn grandson, Xavier. She is also survived by countless other family members and friends who will miss her very much. God also sent her a guardian angel, Mrs. Barbara Duus, who became her best friend and caretaker once she became ill with dementia. Barbara’s devotion, loyalty and love will never be forgotten by the family. Undoubtedly, she is now in heaven having one of her wonderful conversations with her mother and other family and friends talking about old times! She will be greatly missed by those of us who had the pleasure of knowing her. Funeral services will take place on Saturday (July 11th) at 1pm in the First Assembly of God Church, 1068 Seashore Rd., Cape May where there will be a viewing from 11am to 12:45pm. Entombment will take place privately and at a later date.
