Dorothy M. George Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

GEORGE (nee Massimiano), Dorothy M. - 89, of North Cape May passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 3, 2014 with her daughters by her side. Dorothy was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Giustino and Lucy Massimiano and was a resident of Havertown, PA before moving to North Cape May in 1959. Dorothy had an air of refinement shown in her soft-spoken, eloquent speech, Her great warmth, compassion, and her beautiful smile drew people to her. However, it was her humility, her laughter, and her child-like carefree ways that truly endeared her to so many. Dorothy was proud to be a devoted wife to the love of her life, David. Together, Dot and Dave made a beautiful life for their family; instilling faith and love for God, pride in their country, and the importance of family and friendships. Mom Mom always had time to laugh and play with, hug and listen to her grandchildren who were more like buddies. And most recently, she enjoyed visits from her great grandson. Dorothy will be most remembered for her roast beef dinners, her warm decorating touch, her crosswords (in ink), her beautiful white hair, her charitable giving, her dogwoods, Wheel of Fortune, bread and butter, and last but not least her casino trips. She was married for 51 years before being predeceased by her husband, David W. George (2000). Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Lydia Giancoli and her three brothers, Arthur, Edward and Leonard Massimiano. Dorothy will be dearly missed by her loving family which includes her two daughters Jandy McCoy (Larry) and Kimberly George-MacDonald (Jim MacDonald), two sisters Adele (Hank) Page and Janet (Jerry) Edwards; four grandchildren, Carey David McCoy, Carly(Zach) Blaker, Lily MacDonald, David MacDonald; great grandson, Kade Blaker and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday (July 9th) from 11AM to 1PM in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington Street, Cape May. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30PM in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 525 Washington Street, Cape May. Interment will follow at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity serving children or Veterans.
