David Rutherford

RUTHERFORD, David - 89, lifelong resident of Lower Township passed away suddenly and peacefully while working on his farm on Friday evening, March 11, 2016. Dave was born in Lower Township and graduated from Cape May High School. He worked for many years as a supervisor for the Cape May County Planning Board and retired at the age of 62. He worked with the Cape May Point Fire Department and the Lower Township Environmental Commission. Dave was involved in many of the principal environmental issues affecting southern New Jersey both through his position at the planning board and through his own interests and advocacy. He was a member of the Isaac Walton League. Dave was a third generation owner of his family farm where he enjoyed managing the daily tasks. He proudly raised chickens that provided eggs to many local stores in the Cape May area. He is dearly missed by his wife of 55 years, Margaret, as well as many friends. Dave's memorial ceremony is being held privately.
