Bob Kay
December 18, 1951 - November 11, 2021
It is with a sad heart to report on the sudden passing of Robert C. Kay, November 11, 2021. Known by Bobby to friends and family, he would have turned 70 on December 18. He lived in Cape May and worked for decades as a self-employed painter and restorer in Haddonfield and the Cape May area, most recently under the trade name Iron Horse Painting Co. In his early years after Haddonfield Memorial High School, Bob worked on scallop boats. He was an avid fisherman who loved being around the beach and ocean. A 2014 story in the Vineland Daily Journal (at this link: https://bit.ly/3qEcrWa) said Bob caught a 55-pound striped bass in The Rips, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Delaware Bay. Bob is survived by his only daughter, Jayne Meryl Kay, 35, of Oahu, Hawaii. She asks everyone near and far to come cast a line out and join a gathering to share memories and stories about our beloved, Bob. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 20, starting at 2 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 419 Congress St., Cape May, NJ. In lieu of flowers, Jayne has requested for memorial contributions be made to a charity of donor's choice.
